Counseling Services at FranU

Going to college is one of the most exciting times in your life, but it can also come with challenges that impact your mental health. At FranU, our Licensed Professional Counselors incorporate the C.A.R.E. philosophy (Compassion, Assessment, Reinforcement and Encouragement) to serve students and help them through a variety of mental health challenges.

Feeling stressed out? You're not alone. College can be fun, but it can also be very difficult to juggle school, work, family and friends.Like most people, you probably know ways to cope with stress. But if you start feeling overwhelmed or anxious, seeing a counselor can help you find practical solutions to personal and/or academic problems.

The Office of Counseling Services, housed under Student Affairs, staffs Licensed Professional Counselors. These counselors provide assistance, support, assessment of problems, and for all Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady University students’ mental health needs and/or other personal counseling issues (at no cost to the student). Referrals are made when necessary. The student is responsible for all fees incurred once referred.

What is counseling?

A professional counselor can help you identify, understand and develop skills to resolve your educational, career and personal issues. He or she will assist you in learning how to find your own pathway to success in college and in the workplace.

Our counselors are licensed professionals. They offer crisis intervention; brief, solution-focused counseling; and referrals to other agencies or services. Professional counselors provide personal counseling with a focus on positive mental health and wellbeing; both in individual and group settings.
