Our faculty members are highly-skilled professionals with diverse backgrounds and a comprehensive blend of clinical practice, content expertise, and educational experience.

Francine Thomas, PhD, RN, Director

Dr. Thomas graduated in 1980 with a diploma in nursing from Charity School of Nursing. In New Orleans La. Dr. Thomas worked at Charity Hospital System for total of 24 years off and on. Critical Care and Med-Surg nursing are her specialties. She loved teaching and working with students when the opportunity came up for an adjunct teaching position. She started her teaching career in 1992 at LSUHSC. She obtained her master’s in nursing and taught at LSUHSC until Katrina in 2005. She transitioned to Baton Rouge La. and began a new teaching career at Our Lady of the Lake College while obtaining her PhD from University of New Orleans. At present she is the Director of the RN-BSN Program at Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady

Debra Hampton, PhD, RN

Dr. Debra Hampton received her MSN and PhD from the University of Cincinnati College of Nursing, is a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives and has advanced nursing executive leadership certification from AONE and ANCC. Dr. Hampton has been in leadership positions at varied levels (director, CNO, CEO) and has developed and taught various courses at the RN to BSN, MSN, and DNP levels. Dr. Hampton is currently the academic coordinator of the MSN, BSN to DNP, and MSN to DNP Leadership programs at the UK CON and is an adjunct faculty member in the RN to BSN program at FRANU.

Delyndia Green-Laughlin PhD, RN

Dr. Green-Laughlin is an Adjunct Nursing Instructor at Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady University. She graduated from Bishop State Community College, in Mobile Alabama with an Associate Degree in 1999. She returned a few years later and obtained her Bachelor and Master of Science in Nursing from Loyola University in New Orleans. She now holds a PhD from Hampton University, Hampton Virginia in Nursing with a focus in Family. Dr. Green-Laughlin's clinical experience has been in Adult Mental Health, Medical Surgical Care, and Surgical Intensive Care Nursing, in the Veterans Healthcare System. She began teaching students in the Accelerated RN at Our Lady of the Lake College twelve years ago. Over the past six years she has been teaching in the online environment.

Shelita Bates, FNP, MSN

Shelita Bates, MSN, APRN, FNP-C, is an adjunct assistant professor with over 20 years of nursing experience and 10 years of teaching experience. She currently practices full-time as a Family Nurse Practitioner at a local clinic. Mrs. Bates holds a Master’s Degree in Nursing Education for Our Lady of the Lake College as well as a Post Master’s Degree for Family Nurse Practitioner from Southern University, A&M College. In her spare time she enjoys exercise activity as well as travel.

Keeley Harmon, PhD, RN

Dr. Keeley Harmon has 26 years of experience in the field of nursing. About 15 of those years has been in nursing education. Dr. Harmon has a Master of Science in nursing education and a doctorate in curriculum and instruction. She has published a book with Springer publishing entitled, "Nursing Educator Guide to Best Teaching Practice."
