Bishop Michael G. Duca of Baton Rouge will ordain six local men to the diaconate on Saturday, August 14, 2021, at a Mass in St. Joseph Cathedral downtown. The liturgy will be streamed live at 10:00 a.m. on the diocese’s television station www.cathloliclifetv.org and on its cable and digital media platforms.

The new ordinands received their intellectual formation at Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady University Baton Rouge. The academic work included 20 courses required to earn certificates in Catholic Theology and Catechesis, which will be awarded to the new deacons near the conclusion of Saturday’s liturgy.

The newly ordained deacons, their home parishes and their parish assignments are listed below.

Glenn Farnet – St George Church, Baton Rouge (assigned to St George, BR)

Glenn Hymel – St Philip, Vacherie (assigned to Vacherie tri-parish)

Eulis Simien – Sacred Heart, Baton Rouge (assigned to Sacred Heart, BR)

Paul Soileau – St Jude, Baton Rouge (assigned to St Thomas More, BR)

Robert Templet – St John, Prairieville (assigned to St Ann, Sorrento)

Michael Parker – St Anthony of Padua, Baton Rouge (assigned to Holy Rosary, St Amant)
