Job Overview:

The financial aid counselor is a professional position reporting to the Director of Financial Aid in a fast-paced office, serving approximately 1300 students. The financial aid counselor evaluates, approves, and awards financial aid to students in accordance with federal, state, and institutional regulations. The financial aid counselor advises prospective, admitted, and enrolled students and parents regarding various federal, state, and institutional programs such as, Pell grants, FSEOG, Work Study, TOPS, as well as institutional scholarships in accordance with FranU’s mission.

Job responsibilities:

This position is a 12 month, full-time placement. Occasional evening and weekend shifts may be required.

  • Provide customer service and financial aid counseling to students who visit the Office of Financial Aid.
  • Answer student and parent questions regarding financial aid.
  • Identify and convey best financial options for students and parents.
  • Make necessary referrals to other student service offices, federal agencies, state agencies, or loan servicers.
  • Communicate with the student body on FAFSA filing and other deadlines.
  • Monitor SAP and notify and counsel students of the SAP Policy.
  • Verify student files selected by the processor or any files with conflicting information.
  • Award financial aid packages.
  • Revise aid packages when necessary.
  • Work various reports related to financial aid awards.

Job requirements:


Bachelor's Degree

Prior financial aid experience preferred

Detail Oriented

Education
Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in healthcare or technology field required.
