This course builds on principles of Nursing research and Evidence Based Practice and applies principles of research utilization to refine the DNP-NA students ability to integrate research and knowledge into practice. Specific skills of research utilization will be appraising evidence, translating evidence into practice, and predicting potential evaluation methods for evidence-based practice. Students will learn to conceptualize clinical practice problems, transform these problems to answerable clinical research questions, search for the best clinical evidence, and assess clinical evidence using basic epidemiological, bio-statistical and scientific principles. Additionally, the student will learn to integrate the research results using critical appraisal and research synthesis to increase their understanding of models used to guide implementation of evidence-based improvements to begin formulation of the DNP Project.
