Beginning March 30, 2012, all access the Library's electronic resources will go through the University Portal.

  2. Select "Connect to Library Databases" from the Launch Pad

Credo Reference
Offers more than 560 highly regarded titles from over 80 publishers, Credo General Reference covers every major subject.

Oxford English Dictionary
The Oxford English Dictionary is the accepted authority on the evolution of the English language over the last millennium. It is an unsurpassed guide to the meaning, history and pronunciation of over half a million words, both present and past. It traces the usage of words through 2.5 million quotations from a wide range of international English language sources, from classic literature and specialist periodicals to film scripts and cookery books.

eBook Collection
The Library has access to over 20,000 eBooks. The eBook Collection is now searchable through the EBSCO database search interface. Just select "eBook Collection" from the list. Formerly called NetLibrary.

EBSCO Discovery
This option allows users to search ALL of the EBSCO resources AND other vendors' databases that Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady University subscribes to, all in one easy search. Limiters are still available in the Advanced Search Option. A great option for preliminary or broad based research or if you're not sure where to start.

EBSCOhost All Databases
EBSCOhost is a powerful reference system. It offers a variety of proprietary full text databases and popular databases from leading information providers. The comprehensive databases range from general reference collections to specially designed, subject-specific databases for public, academic, medical, corporate and school libraries.
Some Databases Included: AMED (new), AgeLine (new), Academic Search Complete, Alt Health Watch, CINAHL Plus with Full Text (will soon be CINAHL Complete), Cochrane, Health Source: Nursing/Academic, MEDLINE, PsycARTICLES, Psychology and Behavioral Sciences Collection, PsycINFO and many more...

Full Text Finder
Looking for a specific article or journal? Find out whether the University Library has access to the full-text electronically. EBSCO's new and enhanced Journal and Article Discovery tool is available to students and faculty, saving time and streamlining the research process. For a quick tutorial, check out this video. Nursing Reference Center
Nursing Reference Center™ (NRC) is a comprehensive reference tool designed to provide relevant clinical resources to nurses and other health care professionals, directly at the point-of-care. This database offers staff nurses, nurse administrators, nursing students, nurse faculty and hospital librarians the best available and most recent clinical evidence from thousands of full-text documents.

Nursing Education in Video
Nursing Education in Video is a unique online collection of videos created specifically for the education and training of nurses, nursing assistants, and other healthcare workers. All of the videos in the collection have been created with the guidance of the Medcom-Trainex advisory board, and are regularly reviewed for accuracy, currency, and compliance with US Federal regulations from agencies such as OSHA and CMS. The current release contains 269 videos. Videos can also be viewed on your mobile device. Instructions can be found here.

ProQuest Databases
Includes Dissertations & Theses, ProQuest Nursing & Allied Health Source databases. Dissertations & Theses contains citations to 1.2 million dissertations and masters theses. ProQuest Nursing & Allied Health SourceTM provides users with reliable healthcare information covering nursing, allied health, alternative and complementary medicine, and much more.

Thomson Reuters Micromedex
Thomson Reuters delivers industry-leading clinical evidence-based referential and workflow solutions for Nurses, Physicians, Pharmacists, and other professionals working in hospitals, practice, managed care, academics and industrial settings.

DynaMed
DynaMed is a clinical reference tool created by physicians for physicians and other health care professionals for use primarily at the 'point-of-care'. DynaMed is updated daily and monitors the content of over 500 medical journals and systematic evidence review databases directly and indirectly by using many journal review services. Each publication is reviewed cover-to-cover, and each article is evaluated for clinical relevance and scientific validity. The new evidence is then integrated with existing content, and overall conclusions are changed as appropriate representing a synthesis of the best available evidence.

MedlinePlus
MedlinePlus will direct you to information to help answer health questions. MedlinePlus brings together authoritative information from NLM, the National Institutes of Health (NIH), and other government agencies and health-related organizations. Preformulated MEDLINE searches are included in MedlinePlus and give easy access to medical journal articles. MedlinePlus also has extensive information about drugs, an illustrated medical encyclopedia, interactive patient tutorials, and latest health news. (quote from website)

JSTOR Collections
JSTOR offers high-quality, interdisciplinary content to support scholarship and teaching. Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady University provides access to archive collections in Arts & Sciences, Business, Life Sciences & Biological Sciences.

CQ Researcher
CQ Researcher contains single-themed reports covering a variety of topics including health, social trends, criminal justice, international affairs, education, the environment, technology, and the economy. Each 12,000 word report is written by a single journalist and contains an introductory overview; background and chronology on the topic; an assessment of the current situation; tables and maps; pro/con statements from representatives of opposing positions; and bibliographies of key sources.

Biography Resource Center
A comprehensive database of biographical information on over 320,000 people from throughout history, around the world, and across all disciplines and subject areas. It combines more than 400,000 biographies from over 800 volumes of more than 130 respected Gale sources.

Literature Resource Center
A complete literature reference database designed for both the undergraduate and graduate student as well as the sophisticated casual user. Rich in biographical, bibliographical, and critical content, the Literature Resource Center is the premier Internet resource for information on literary figures from all time periods writing in such genres as fiction, nonfiction, poetry, drama, history, journalism, and more.

Twayne Author Series
Twayne's Authors Series of literary criticism offers in-depth introductions to the lives and works of writers, the history and influence of literary movements and to the development of literary genres.

Scribner Writers Series
The Scribner Writers Series features in-depth coverage of writers with extensive essays. Its collection of carefully selected writers spans a wide variety of time periods, geographic locations and cultures. The database comprises approximately 1,600 original biocritical essays written and signed by noted scholars.

Smithsonian Institution Research Information System
Free Online Art Database - Search 1.7 million records, with links to 138,000 images, video and sound files from dozens of Smithsonian libraries, archives, museums, and specialized research units.

MathSciNet
The database of bibliographic information and reviews created and maintained by the American Mathematical Society. It continues the tradition and extends the scope of the work begun by the paper publication Mathematical Reviews in 1940. Journals, conference proceedings, and books of mathematics research are covered.

Cabell Publishing Health Directories - Great resource for faculty
These directories were created to help professors, graduate students, and researchers publish their manuscripts in academic journals. They strive to maintain current information on over 4,000 journals. This information includes addresses, phones, e-mails and web sites for their listed journals making Cabell's Directories an easy point of reference when preparing to publish a manuscript. They also provide links directing the user to guidelines and submission information. The University Library has access to the Health Administration and Nursing directories.

Our access includes Bonaventure: Works, Francis of Assisi: Early Documents, Ockham: Work of Ninety Days, and Scotus: Opera.
