Mission Partners Campaign

At our core, Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady University seeks to provide students an educational journey that encourages their formation through service to others and within an environment that allows them to explore their own faith.

Gifts to The Faithful Mission Campaign support programs focused on enhancing mission and servant leadership such as:

Campus Ministry

The goal of Campus Ministry is to promote, campus wide, the theological and practical development of students through reflection and the engagement of students with the greater community by living out the core values of Service, Reverence and Love for All of Life, Joyfulness of Spirit, Humility and Justice.

Each year, Campus Ministry provides a number of engaging activities that bring students together to share their faith and engage them with others in our community in the spirit of service such as:

• Habitat build
• Service camp for high school students
• Weekly activities including Bible study
• Agape dinners and other seasonal events
• Daily Masses at the Rosary Chapel

The Franciscan Experience (TFE)

The Franciscan Experience is our new high school summer institute (for rising juniors or seniors), which serves to help participants take up the call of St. Francis to renew the Church and the World. Through the light of the Catholic and Franciscan tradition, the institute helps students hear God’s call and discern their own gifts and abilities through service, relational ministry, theological study, community building, and prayer. Our goal is to form servant leaders who are able to see the needs of their community and respond in truth and charity, using the inspiration of St. Francis of Assisi.

Bioethics Lecture Series

The Franciscan Lecture Series is an annual (or bi-annual) lecture event held at the University. It invites academic lecturers of the highest caliber and asks them to present on a current bioethical issue.

The purpose of The Franciscan Bioethics Lecture Series is twofold. First, it aims to increase knowledge and awareness of bioethical issues among students, faculty, and medical professionals in the tri-community area. Second, it aims to increase knowledge of the cogency of Catholic positions on bioethical issues.

The lecture series is free and open to the public, and is generally attended by University students and faculty, Catholics, medical residents, and medical professionals from across south Louisiana.

Franciscan Scholars

As the University’s most prestigious scholarship, only five entering freshmen to the University receive this award each year. The scholarships are merit based, and recipients must demonstrate outstanding academic performance and leadership skills in high school, and show promise of continuing such performance in college and beyond.
